The X-Men Origins: Wolverine story begins in the mid-19th century, where James Howlett, a British Army doctor, witnesses the brutal murder of his family by the Canadian Marauders. Consumed by rage and grief, he becomes the Alpha Dog, a mutant with enhanced senses and healing abilities.
Years later, in 1970s Canada, Dr. Stephen Hunter discovers how to control his powers through a serum created by British scientists. He gives the serum to James' son, Logan, who possesses similar abilities but has been kept hidden away. As Logan grows in strength and agility, he becomes embroiled in a world of mutant rights activism.
In the present day, a new threat emerges in the form of a government agent seeking to exploit Wolverine's powers for military gain. With his secret identity as Professor Charles Xavier now at risk, Logan must confront his troubled past and team up with other mutants to stop those who seek to destroy them.
